Babies and wild animals intuitively eat the foods that are appropriate and healthy for their bodies, and instinctively know when to stop eating. What has happened to us adults?! The best weight loss tips and tricks (if lasting weight loss is in fact a "trick," which is doubtful!) will take this fact about babies and wild animals into account and provide truly helpful tips and tricks (and genuine solutions).
"As a baby I intuitively knew what and how much to eat. Now I'm a grown adult, but my eating is unhealthy and often out-of-control! Something happened to me when I left childhood behind...but what?"
This "something" is the fundamental reason for compulsive eating, overeating, and obesity. Its name is the "mind/body split." The mind/body split is very simple. Over time, we've been taught to give so much attention to our thoughts that we've become identified with the mind. At the same time, we've given less and less attention to the body, to the point where we've lost touch with its natural needs for healthy and moderate amounts of food. We've lost touch with its natural signals of hunger and satiety. And we've lost touch with our emotions, which are bodily experiences (this in itself is an underlying cause of the 75% of overeating that is estimated to be "emotional eating!").
Most people intuitively understand the mind/body split when they first hear about it.
The mind/body split means that we've come to conceive of ourselves as a "mental self," rather than a mind and body. When you think about where you "are" in your experience, don't you think of your "self" as being up in your head, looking out of your eyes, and listening out of your ears?
Would you say "I am a body," or "I have a body?" Most people would say "I have a body," as if their body were a possession like a car. Or an appendage, dangling below what they imagine to be their true self, the mind.
The realization that you've been identifying mostly as a mind, and not a mind and body, is shocking and the potential beginning of lasting food freedom.
The mind/body split is the origin of most people's struggles with food and body weight. Yet it may be difficult to understand how powerful this insight is until you intentionally place more awareness or "mindfulness" onto your body. How powerfully could you transform your eating simply by giving more mindful attention to the body's sensations, hunger and satiety signals, and emotions? Could you become (to quote a great spiritual teacher) "as a child again," alive again with an uncorrupted, intuitive, and mindful relationship to food?
Mindfulness of the body is the foundation of a mindfulness approach to eating and weight management, and gradually heals the mind/body split.
You can start to get in touch again with the body's natural food needs, and its hunger and satiety - just like a baby - with an easy and calming exercise called "body scanning." While the most thorough or relaxing body scan takes 20 to 45 minutes, even a 5 to 10 minute body scan can be therapeutic.
Instructions for a Brief Body Scan: Close your eyes and take 1-2 minutes to scan your "inner body" with your awareness to find the points that are the most tense and contracted. Spend the next 3-5 minutes being mindfully aware of these places. (There's no need to force anything to relax. Just paying mindful attention to different parts of your body will gradually relax tense and contracted muscles.) End by taking several deep breaths.
Did you notice your mind wandering during this exercise? If so, don't worry, it happens to everyone at the beginning. The wandering mind is the direct experience of the mind/body split! With time and practice, you will once again become one with the body. And you may not need any "weight loss tips and tricks" ever again, because you've discovered the root cause for out-of-control eating, and its solution.

Fat Burning Foods for Women - Have You Heard About These 5 Foods?

Well actually, there are a lot more than five great fat burning foods for women. There are many more, but let's start with just five that if you eat them, you can be sure they are giving your body the help it needs to lose weight and to burn fat.
The really great thing about these foods, are that you will LOVE to eat them. They are not typical diet foods, in fact when I tell you what type of food they are, you will probably wonder if I am serious. I promise you I am serious.
These five foods WILL make you feel full, help you lose weight and see inches fall off your waist line.
The foods I am going to tell you about are all carbohydrates. Yes carbs! For so long this group of foods has received bad publicity. Many traditional diets even say to stop eating them altogether.
Well, the truly great news for all us carb lovers is that you can eat them and lose weight. Remember, the key to eating anything is not the quantity of what you eat, but the quality of what you eat.
So the key to eating carbs is to choose good carbs and not the bad carbs like white rice, or whole wheat bread, which are definitely going to harm your chances of losing weight and that belly fat you are trying so hard to move.
There are some really great carbs out there that will satisfy you and taste great without doing your weight loss attempts any harm. The key to these carb choices is to choose the ones that are not over processed. They are a huge no no!
Choose the ones that are as naturally occurring as you can and your body will love you for it! Let's take a look at five of the "good carb" options that really will work for you!
1. Replace the grain based carbs like rice and bread, with tons of fruit and vegetables and nuts and other naturally fed food sources like free range eggs and grass fed dairy products.
2. When you do eat wheat products focus on the "germ" the highly nutritious part of the plant. It's full of protein and fiber. Try adding some oat bran or wheat germ for example to yoghurt, soups and salads
3. Choose real fruit instead of fruit juice. This will give you the benefit of the fiber in the fruit and don't forget that vegetables and fruit are all great sources of carbohydrates.
4. Use good fats as a replacement for most of the bad carb choices you make every day. Use nuts and nut butters, avocadoes and free range eggs.
5. Yams and sweet potatoes are excellent sources of carbs, but are packed full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
So there you have it. Carbohydrates really are fat burning foods for women and men when chosen carefully!

The Orange Juice Diet

The orange juice diet is a pernicious online phenomenon. Its roots go back in time and can be traced to the beginning of the popularity of many widely available detoxification diets. It is a subset of the juice diet, which is infamous for its popular appeal as well as for a visible lack of results. There are three principal reasons why embarking on a quest to use the orange diet is a bad idea.
The first major reason is that there is no scientific evidence in support of the orange juice diet. There has never been a single published research study in support of the orange juice diet. There have been studies in favor of the use of citrus foods in one's daily diet, but as of yet there has never been any research to confirm the existence of the validity of the orange juice diet. Despite this obvious fact, the orange juice diet maintains its popular appeal.
The second major reason anything to do with this diet is a bad idea is because it's results are largely temporary. While if you subsist entirely on oranges for a period of seven days you may indeed lose weight, it is extremely unlikely that you will continue to do so in the future, or maintain your present level of weight. This is largely because the orange juice diet is a subset of the fad diets, which are renowned for their lack of long-term effectiveness. There are no shortcuts to properly losing weight, and the orange juice diet is no exception.
The third major reason embarking on this diet is a bad idea is because orange juice alone is not sufficient to supply your body with all the nutrients it needs. The body needs many different types of minerals and vitamins, and while orange juice is a rich source of vitamin C, it nonetheless cannot supply all the minerals needed for one's growth. The body needs nutrients to repair itself, in order for it to form at its best. If you're interested in performing at your best in any given area or field, subsisting entirely on citrus fruits will not enable you to do so.
Despite all the above reasons why this diet is not a good idea, it's another one of the juice diets that continue to be popular with the general public. Part of the reason for this is the lack of general scientific information, and also another part is people's general desire for easy solutions to difficult problems. It seems to be a part of our nature that rather than go the difficult route we try the easier one, even though it is much less likely that it will pay off. This is not to say that the most difficult route is always the best one, but in the case of weight-loss, there are indeed no shortcuts.
